This beautiful hand quilted Butterfly is so fantastic in workmanship and condition. The hand quilting in the blocks was done in the clamshell pattern.
The colorful fabrics used in the blocks of appliqué and then sashed with a yellow fabric shows off the hand quilting. The embroidery details are another great detail.
This is the quilt that we are making a donation of $100.00 from the proceeds to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in memory of Dolly Parton. From what I have read Dolly loved butterflies and yellow was one of her favorite colors. We felt this was a great way to honor her memory.
As noted in my previews of this beauty, there was a small spot of fabric loss on the top only near the top edge, and I did a repair of a heart and little square to the side of it . I looked at it like a broken wing that needed fixing using vintage fabric of the same time period. Images shown.
This is a circa 1930’s quilt from West Virginia.
We also added this to the Collection, Piecework of Blocks- Shapes, as though this is an appliqué block, the sashing is pieced as it frames each of the outstanding blocks.
