This black prints blocks, Sisters Choice, set with a later black print is in fine unused condition for this antique-vintage quilt.
I don’t think it has seen the light of day, as it appears so fine and is in excellent condition.

The pattern, a Sisters Choice Variation, displays beautifully.
I feel like the early black mourning fabrics and blocks of the circa 1880’s time period, of which the maker used several, it was early blocks set together later and has a cotton batting and then hand quilted. So I’d say the setting fabric could be after the 1940’s. It was then put away and was waiting “for a rainy” day
Lots of 1880-90’s shirting fabrics were also used in the blocks.
The overall look is a black and white feel, and one not frequently found.
The condition is just so fine as is the handwork. I note a small light age spot that is original.
