Imagine making this quilt, piecing the different shapes in around the 1920’s/30’s time period.
A circa 1920/1930’s quilt.
Per the internet: “The Hearts and Gizzards quilt block is a beloved piece of American folk art. Tracing its roots back to the 19th century, it was popularized by pattern companies like the Ladies Art Company around 1890. Its highly descriptive name reflects the practical, everyday lives of rural farm women who thought the pieced shapes resembled chicken hearts and gizzards.”
The piecework itself he took lots of time to do and then it is all hand quilted.
The condition overall is excellent with a couple minor minimal age spots.
The classic colors of red and white, so popular in decorating and collecting make this a quilt to enjoy year round.
The dimensions are 75x88 inches.
See the other Hearts and Gizzards quilt posted in blue and white.
The last image shows the 2 quilts together. This post is for the red and white quilt.
