Offering this pair, the both of them, Log Cabin pillow cases.
These are made with the most wonderful antique fabrics, but with study it appears that even though the fabrics are a beautiful circa 1880/90’s fabric, they may have been machine pieced at a later time. The backing does not look as early as the top, but they have a fantastic look.
The pattern on the front a Log Cabin is then framed with an appealing sawtooth border, much like the pillowcases from the 1880’s.
I did see with close examination of the fabrics, one of them had some deterioration, so anther antique piece of fabric was appliqued to the top and leaving the original underneath as shown.
These desirable textiles are highly collected and even with them being most likely pieced later, they show wonderfully. Possibly Pennsylvania origin.
