The double line rod quilting is done by hand. Some of the quilting designs are feathered wreaths and crosshatch handwork. Note the right lower corner where the maker did a different quilting pattern of triple rod/line quilting in just that one corner. Adds a personality detail to the quilt .
The leaves of the flowers have a folky heart shape instead of the traditional leaf design.
Colors of red, green and yellow stand out as the condition of this circa 1870’s quilt is excellent.
Bound with a solid yellow binding , I wasn’t sure if that’s as early as the rest of the quilt.
A nine block quilt and all the baskets face the same direction making this a fine wall art quilt or let it “dress” up the bed or wherever!
The fine hand quilting fills in the ground areas inbetween the appliqué.
