Early Variable 9 Block Patchwork Quilt

This is one of those quilts that has such wonderful early fabrics in it that it can be a treasure for the fabric alone. 

A circa 1880’s quilt with lots of fabrics that appear earlier.

A 9 Block Variation quilt.

 Hand quilted. 

This quilt is lightweight and is a summer weight quilt as there is no batting. 

Quilt folks will love the backing too as when made it appears the maker had to make some mends on the fabric before using it as the backside.  

Looks unwashed. I note some minor age toning and saw one block wth a fabric split. This was not easy to see actually. 

The dimensions are 56x86, so  it can be displayed in many ways. It reminds be of a daybed size or handyman’s bed size.
