This beautifully made folk art like Pot of Flowers antique quilt from North Carolina is so well made.
Quilted and appliquéd by hand. The neat little cornerstone applique tulips add to the charm of this beauty.
Popular colors and fabrics of the south and seen in southern quilts. Some of the details include the chrome orange /cheddar basket and the angular stems and leaves of the flowers. Note the curved handle on the basket or pot.
I gave this beauty a bath. Some residual of what looks like old water marks remain on a few blocks, that actually are part of its history and something very acceptable IMHO, as the quilt is clean and fresh. Some minor age toning. Only to note a small nip/bite out of the very edge as shown. No real wear is noted. So with that being said, i feel the quilt is in excellent overall condition.
It is a circa 1870’s quilt if not earlier.
