This incredible and super charming pictorial Americana vintage western themed quilt from the time period of the 1960’s is a reminder of a favorite time for many.
This pattern called Little Mavericks is such a great themed design with so many details including not only the cowgirl and cowboy,but the calf, the cactus, flowers, the highly detailed saddle and the branding iron, the holster and badge and much more.
This is one of the few western pictorial kit quilts that came out in the 1950’s and 60’s, and this particular one is more rare than the others as I have collected them for years. This pattern was offered by Lee Wards, where as some of the others were Progress kits.
The hand work with all the appliqué and detailed embroidery work was a true labor of love. Then it was all hand quilted and finished with a red binding.
The cowgirl on the rearing horse is so classic and reminds one of the Roy Rodger’s and Dale Evan’s era.
The condition of this western quilt is overall excellent, with a tiny age spot as shown and some of the red binding has some natural fade, some batting shift under the cowgirl.
This cotton quilt appears to have been washed and is fresh and clean.
The dimensions are 66x87 inches. Shown on a queen bed.
