This is a great design and the name of the pattern Union Square.
Historical Lore: While the block itself dates to the 1930s, the name was designed to evoke themes of American patriotism and the Civil War, originally intended to represent Union troops gathering to fight for the United States.
So this pattern may have historical references. Love the colors of red, white, and a cadet like solid blue.
Circa 1920/30’s.
Beautiful cable quilting design on the border and the blocks are quilted by the piece and then crosshatched hand quilting in the ground areas.
The overall condition is excellent with no wear. I gave this quilt a gentle wash and it’s ready to enjoy. I noticed a trace some color migration on the backside for noting, not on the front.
The dimensions are 79x80 inches, so it is one that can be displayed or draped in any way or used on a bed.
