This is an outstanding early Medallion Star quilt surrounded by strips of radiating borders.
The borders are pieced strips that go around the center Star and then framed by a gorgeous green border. Such earthy colors in this beauty.
Love how one of the borders is pieced with some different fabrics giving this one a unique twist on the design and look. The reason we love old quilts, not all is perfect.
A variable star center is part of the focal point and the fantastic fabrics in the strips.
The hand quilting is excellent and the quiltmaker did tiny stitches.
The condition overall is exclllent on the circa 1870’s quilt. There is only a couple rubs on the binding and a spot of some color variation on the green. Nothing significant on this early quilt.
