This exquisite beauty of a small scale Hexagonal Stars design is a work of wonderful piecework.
The condition is excellent.
The many fabrics in this that include both prints and solids that actually coordinate with each other showing the quilt makers care and love that went into making this quilt.
A circa 1930/40’s patchwork that was so well planned out.
Note the one end is somewhat irregular, not squared off, and it made me wonder what were they thinking here. But it does not affect the beauty or use of the quilt as it actually looks to be unused. It has had a gentle wash.
It’s details like that that make quilts so one of a kind.
Even the hand quilting design is some different
I think until one has done patchwork like this the realization of the piecework is hard to imagine doing.
The binding edge was not a straight line as often found. The maker did detailed binding in keeping with the design.
It is all hand quilted.
