A little background,,,, The US Army Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) was an administrative corps responsible for coastal, harbor, and anti-aircraft defense of the United States and its possessions between 1901 and 1950.
The CAC also operated heavy and railway artillery during World War I.
There is a lot of information about this division of the army online for further reading.
The pattern is a variation of a popular and hard to find Mountain Mist pattern called Wings Over All and another pattern Sea Wings to Glory, that has some of the same designs in it. This quilt has some modifications of both quilts.
This quilt was designed to honor those who served during that time.
This is a Nebraska Quilt and is in excellent condition.
Circa 1940’s.
It’s hand embroidered at the middle top with words, 33rd Coast Artillery, with the crossed guns embroidered and bullet.
Don’t miss out on an American quilt that speaks of our history.
