This is one of those antique quilts that one can enjoy day in and day out with all the detailed hand quilting and the design, a Carpenters Wheel quilt.
This circa 1870’s quilt was made by a skilled quilt maker. Looking at the detailed hand quilting with all the feathered wreaths with a star in the centers of the wreaths which makes a nice twist of that pattern, feathered long vines along the border make this a standout quilt.
Around the feathered wreaths is echo like quilting to fill in the corners. The maker quilted this beauty with so much labor of love. Close rows of hand quilting surround the feathered wreaths and double rod quilting in the border.
Overall excellent condition with no wear and it has had a gentle wash and air dried. There are some minor light age spots that remain, but I felt this was part of the quilts history.
A circa 1870’s quilt that is framed by a floral red print fabric. The Carpenters Wheel blocks are done with a solid red and what is probably now a great fugitive green that depending on lighting may have a tan look.
The dimensions are 71x87 inches. Shown on a queen bed.
