North Carolina Wonder of the World Quilt

This handsome quilt, Wonder of the World, is quite a quilt from the southeast, North Carolina. 

The condition of this circa 1870’s beauty is excellent.

Note the fine hand quilting, the multiple close lines and so much of it. 

This is one of those quilts that was made,  put up, doesn't show use and is going on over 140 year old. 

The fabrics are  a superb green and madder print.

You can see where I point out the knots on the backing, the quilting knots the maker didn't try to “hide”, love that in the details.  

The maker bordered the pattern with the same green calico and red madder print. 

The dimensions are a 74x90 inches.
