This is a fantastic folk art type antique quilt, a circa 1870s appliqué with the most wonderful designs on it.
They include baskets of a couple varieties, flowers, a center medallion wreath of applique with the scissors that really add the “icing to the cake”.
So calling it Baskets and Flowers.
The whimsical red and cheddar baskets with the cheddar and red handles give this quilt an extra level of character thinking of the quilt maker and the designs one used.
The maker added another basket which included the flowers in the corners of the quilt.
The applique is done in an old way of machine applique .
This quilting is all done by hand with fine small stitches.
The applique scissors that are a desirable element to the applique “sing”.
All the applique is framed by a border of green and white.
Theres a natural age spot as shown and near it a professional small repair that was only on the top side and hard to fine actually.
