This is a true “One of A Kind” antique quilt.
Put this beauty on the wall and art you will have.
A quilt I call a unique abstract quilt made by an early patchwork artist. I think to my self the person that made this doesn’t realize this textile ,,, a quilt, hand quilted, hand pieced, how it will be appreciated over 100 years after its making.
A circa 1890’s antique quilt from Mississippi.
The central design of pieced diamonds encased with a strip of chrome orange making an irregular circle or 8 sided octagon design. Then the maker filled in the corners squaring it up, then finishing out the outer border with a crazy patchwork, with shapes and fabrics that are so earthy.
It is backed with a fabulous homespun like fabric and then hand quilted in a fan design.
Other than the 3 pieces of brown fabrics in the border and a few diamonds in the center with minor surface breaks, this outstanding work of quilt art is excellent. I see no binding wear.
I really would say this quilt was not used as it would have shown all over wear.
The dimensions are 75x75 inches.
