This circa 1930’s antique quilt, a Field of Diamonds is an eye catching work of quilt art and so well made.
The maker was very detailed in the making of this and the choice of fabrics used gives insight to the maker of this beauty.
The quilt maker also did fussy cutting in many of the blocks, which entailed much more work and fabric. Fussy cutting is cutting out the fabric print like a flower from all the same pieces in fabric and centering them in the blocks.Fussy cutting focuses on the best parts of the print and showcases them.
The overall condition of this quilt is excellent. It is unwashed and looks unused.
Hand quilted by the piece and such nice quilting stitches.
The scale of the hexagons is small, another great characteristic of this fabulous quilt.
The maker also used complementary colors in the blocks, using a solid yellow center then a solid, then a print of like color shades.
This is all framed by a green border of hexies.
The dimensions are 75x93 inches on this North Carolina quilt.
