Cindys Antique Quilts

This happy-looking Mountain Mist patterned quilt called Basket of Flowers one of the Mountain Mist patterns, known from the wrapping from the batting. One might recall that quilt patterns were on the outer wrapping of the old cotton batting. This quilt is in excellent condition. It has fine tiny quilting at 9-10 spi and is also nicely hand appliqued. The separate binding is put on by hand. In my years of buying and collecting, this is the first quilt I have owned with this particular pattern. It has a wonderful double inner border with an outer flying geese variation border. The quilt is made of all solid cotton fabrics. As noted, in one of the Mountain Mist books on page 9, "No quilt could better combine the charms of the old-fashioned and modern than this ever-popular pieced basket with its appliqued , pastel colored blooms." The quilt has been washed so is clean and ready to enjoy. An excellent quilt for a collection or and it displays well. From Illinois
