Red/White/Blue Cross and Star Quilt( Exhibit)- SOLD
(Item: Q-537)
This excellent condition quilt with patriotic colors of red, white and blue in a pattern of a cross-like
pattern and stars in-between. Actually not sure of pattern name. (If anyone knows pattern I appreciate help on this.)
Unwashed, near mint quilt was probably just used for display. A large quilt 84x99 which can be used for some of todays
bigger beds. Very nice quilting at 9-10 spi. The pattern is set off by the triple border and the quilt is hand bound
with a separate binding. The quilt displays well and also works to display it on a wall. Lancaster, Pa area. This quilt will be in an upcoming exhibit in Houston, Tx this fall at Quilt Festival.
This information was passed onto me by an appreciated email:
Brackman 1991 “Our Country”, published Kansas City Star 1939. Unless KC Star got the pattern from someone else, predating their publication, your quilt is probably subsequent to 1939, maybe (just thinking) not until December 1941 (Pearl Harbor) or after. With that name, one would think the patriotic coloring was probably suggested with the pattern.
