Mennonite Sawtooth Diamond Quilt/Bars Backing(q-315)- Circa 1880's, size 91x93. This pattern also known as Square in a Square.This wonderful old heavily quilted Mennonite quilt is from the Landis Valley area in Pa. and is in excellent condition. It has never been washed and probably wasn't used much. It is all hand quilted at 8-9 spi. Quilting lines are close together and there is quality quilting. It has a few slight age spots and one discolored spot, shown. For the binding , the front was turned to back and stitched down by hand. All cotton and a thin batting. For the backing it is done in the bars pattern. The blue fabric on the backing, looks like what I believe is the Lancaster blue fabric. Great graphic design and very generous in size. A nice Mennonite quilt to add to a collection.
